For two decades I have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of higher education settings in the United States. I have taught in small private colleges, large public universities, law schools, graduate programs, and undergraduate departments. I have also been fortunate to have the chance to teach and lecture extensively outside the U.S. More information on my work is listed below.
Carnegie Council Global Ethics Fellows, October 2014
My Focus
My primary academic focus is on comparative and international law. I write in the areas of comparative constitutionalism and the institutional design of international bodies. I have also worked extensively in the areas of war and peace (primarily humanitarian law), international ethics, and human rights.
I am currently working on projects related to economic constitutionalism in Asia (principally China and Vietnam), the institutionalization of the BRICS organization (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), and on how the prosecution of alleged war criminals can contribute to a notion of global justice.
Most of my teaching is related to comparative law and jurisprudence widely construed. I have taught a wide variety of classes in the core law school curriculum (alternative dispute resolution, civil law suits, client counseling, contracts, and sales), and a range of philosophy courses in Mercer's College of Liberal Arts (CLA), where I am on the Philosophy Department faculty. My philosophy work tends to be focused on social, political, and legal theory, with a heavy emphasis on the ethical implications of issues in these fields.

“I have been very lucky to have the chance to work with students around the world, practice in a variety of legal and professional settings, and to write and lecture on issues I am passionate about.”
